How Did That Lard Soap Turn Out? Let’s See the Cut!

clear bubbles Hello to all my tWiStEd PeAcHeS! So sorry I have not updated you all on how my soap turned out. The real truth is…I’m not really sure. As you know, I tried a new lard soap recipe. And as usual, it looked great going into the mold, but 48 hours later, well…you be the judge:

The texture of it is soooo soft. The only way that I can describe it is taking a tube of Chapstick, winding it all the way up and out of the tube, and squishing it between your fingers. Now I am an EXTREMELY green soap maker. So….is that right? That doesn’t seem right to me.

Now I know that it needs to cure for 6 to 8 weeks, so I cut it up and tucked it away. Guess I’ll just wait until mid-September for the final verdict. Any of you seasoned soap maker/fly-girls care to help me out?

Who knew that making soap was so very complicated? Darn, you science! You know I’ll keep you all informed as it progresses through the saponification process.

Until next time, keep it real and stay true to yourself!
